Szilvia is a regular tutor at the Willoughby Arts Centre in Sydney on Mondays and Tuesdays.
She teaches ceramics to grown-ups, where she welcomes both absolute beginners and students with prior knowledge of working with clay. The class explores various approaches to handbuilding and wheel throwing, with special projects given to design, sculpture and surface treatment. Szilvia also teaches children aged 5-12. Students are encouraged to develop creativity through various visual artforms, they learn about artistic processes, materials and innovative thinking, inspired by famous artists and their works, our environment and nature itself. The approach is to explore and enjoy the artistic journey, which may not necessarily create a perfect ‘product’. Students will explore 2D and sculpture through small/large projects, traditional/contemporary approaches, contemplative study and active dynamic work, and create individually as well as a group.
