These sculptures and vessels are inspired by landscapes, as well as the architecture of various cultures. I aim to create objects that express the rhythm of movement and the inter-relationships of living things. I love the theme of evolution, as complicated mutations head towards simplification and survival. This simplicity reveals the hidden essence of the complexity of all life forms. In my work subtly spiralling edges imply the energy of creation. Some pieces strive for a point of balance.
I use the ancient coil building method. For colour and texture I use metallic oxides, terra sigillata and various glazes. The pieces are fired between C 1000-1200
